DataViews

As a transformation developer, you use the concept of data views for the data acquision of each attached data source. Each object is retrieved at a clear address and looked at through indicating a data view. Regarding the XML-schema-based information of the onion.net Information Server, there are for example data views, which represent content, supply structural information or reveal the use of the information in remote places. Each data view answers a different class of questions.

A data source supplies a collection of views that are deemed expedient and are available for the different objects. The data source for the onion.net Information Server supplies individual views for the following object types:

• XML-schema-based data objects
• Users and groups

Irrespectively of the data type, the data view “no-data” is provided for each object. This is used if no immediate data is needed for a transformation and the existence is sufficient as a basis.
